Man Law #28 – THOU SHALT NOT COCKBLOCK THY NEIGHBOR
Joshua Bernstein, a freelance writer in the New York Press, defined a cockblock as the following in this published article: :
We hope that the new administration brings a "No Cockblocking" Law to the floor of the Supreme Court...
cockblock [n] -( \ˈkäk – bläk\) – “a foul act in which someone interferes with another’s attempt at finding happiness inside someone’s pants.”
Cockblocks are shape shifters and come in all forms and sizes – male, female, black, white, dog, cat, republican and democrat. The most common cockblockers you will encounter are:
#1-The Female Cockblock-This women is an enemy to you. She knows who you want (not her) and will block your advance at all cost. A Wingman is your ally in this situation and he will need to run diversions within the group to keep the female cockblock’s attention on him and not on you. #2-The Inadvertent Cockblock-This is a friend of yours who unknowingly talks to you or the girl while you flirt with her. In some cases these can be the worst types of cockblocks because a) you genuinely like this person but he/she has no clue that you are attempting to “close the deal” and b) The inadvertent cockblock might not know anyone at the venue and due to shyness might be sticking by you. The best way to deal with this is to introduce the inadvertent cockblock to the woman you are speaking with…then “LEAVE”. Yes, that’s right, leave and go somewhere else so he/she is left to talk with her. Come back a few minutes, or even many conversations later… This can send a subliminal signal to both people that they need to switch places. It’s almost like a form of musical chairs. Again, you must proceed cautiously with this form of cockblocking…
#3-The Conscious Cockblock-The worst kind of cockblock. A “friend” or stranger who consciously interrupts your flirtations with the girl…You need to separate her from this person as soon as possible. If there are games (pool/beer pong/cards) that the two of you can team up on, tell her you want to play and that you need a partner. These people are no fun to deal with and you may need to call in the reserves (i.e. Wingman) to deal with the intruder…

STAND YOUR GROUND Gentlemen. Although she will most likely not listen to any reasoning that you have to say, do NOT just apologize immediately and give in to her. Of course, she is different. She has come to her conclusions and opinions on life, just like you, based on what she has seen and her experiences. Listen to her views, but stand your ground, state your opinion, and if necessary shield your face if she’s a slapper…

Now, when she calls you out on being “wrong”, she MOST LIKELY has a lot to say… She might say “You’re Wrong” or “That’s BS” and give you the silent treatment for a bit but the truth is…she wants you to keep asking her questions to draw the answer out of her… This can be tough. You have to create an atmosphere that shows that you will be receptive to what she has to say before she’ll share her answer or why she feels that way. If she truly thinks that you won’t listen, she will not talk.
Even if you "win" the argument...you will "lose" the war...
(Editorial Note: This lesson has been named “The Victorian Principle” after a lovely, young woman, who found it necessary to be the first one to tell me that I was wrong after posting a Man Law that she did not agree with…she did it so often that I formed Man Law #27 and named it in her honor. )
Man Law #26 – STFU and Let Her Talk…
It is not necessary to do ALL the talking in a conversation. All you need to remember is that to a women, the most INTERESTING topic in the world, is herself… The last thing she wants to do is listen to her girlfriends bitch, moan and complain about the men in their life and all of their problems…that’s where you come in my friend. Admittedly, this can be hard to do,
Her goal is to drive you crazy...the way she does this is through talking...talking...and more talking...Once she has broken you down, you are easy to control...Her Mission has been Accomplished...
so you always want to make sure that if you are at a bar, to place her directly in front of a TV. That way, once she REALLY gets rolling, you can glance up at a UFC highlight and still pretend to listen…Periodically nod your head in agreement with what she has to say….Don’t worry, she’s not going any where with the conversation…
(Editorial Note: The first time I posted this Man Law on Facebook, I received immediate negative feedback…If you need to know NOT to watch television or ignore her while she is talking, then you need more help with women than I can provide…)
Active listening is a skill. You might not remember EVERY word she has to say, but if you keep asking questions and getting her to talk that is a good sign…You want to share very little about yourself unless she ask and even then, don’t go into your life story and how you were beaten up as a little kid and your parents left you in a grocery store…she DOES.NOT.CARE. She wants you to turn the conversation around and focus it back on her…
